Know before you go:
- Hoedspruit is about 5 hours drive from Johannesburg.
- Stock up before you arrive because this reserve has no shops or garages, the closest shop is a 40 minute drive away.
- The weather is hot in summer and a comfortable 20 degree average in winter, with cold morning starts.
- The area is classified as a low risk malaria zone, but sufficient precaution should be taken when visiting the area at all times. It is recommended that you bring along insect repellent and a medical kit.
- The reserve has a variety of animals, but it is safe for walking around during the day.
- There are hippos and crocodiles in the main river. The lodge is located on a shallow river bend off the main river. Hippos do roam the banks for grazing the grass at all the nearby lodges.
Little Carthage and PetHealthCare.co.za can not to be held liable for any harm to any person, animal or property of whatsoever nature.
It's a great getaway for people who love the bush, but please be prepared for the bush. There are geckos, lizards, spiders and the occasional snake, monkeys, and baboons, and a little field mouse that is occasionally seen in the Loft Cottage.
